The UTMB Breast Imaging Section of Radiology is a comprehensive program that offers new and innovative advances in Women's Imaging. Our extensive Breast Imaging practice performs mammography, ultrasonography, & MRI and we are pleased to offer state of the art breast interventional procedures including Stereotactic core biopsies and MRI guided biopsies. In addition, we are in the process of implementing molecular breast imaging as an adjunct to mammography in appropriate cases.
The UTMB Radiology Department has been accredited by the American College of Radiology which a peer-reviewed, educationally focused evaluation is assuring the highest level of image quality and safety. In addition, our Breast Imaging Center has been designated as a Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology which is an honor that has only been bestowed on 13 Breast Imaging facilities in the state of Texas.
We are staffed by three specialized Breast Imaging Radiologists who are all Board Certified through the American Board of Radiology. In addition, we are staffed by seven Mammography Technicians and a QA/QC Coordinator.
Our multidisciplinary approach to breast health incorporates physicians from the Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Medical Oncology Departments in an effort to continue offering the highest quality of care to our patient population. We are also pleased to serve Galveston County by offering screening mammograms through our mobile van unit.
Our Mammographers have over 40 years of combined breast imaging experience and we are dedicated to providing exceptional care for each patient. Our commitment to education is reinforced through our one year Breast Imaging Fellowship, and we have increased our patient accessibility by offering self referral mammograms and Breast Imaging services through our Galveston Island, Victory Lakes (League City, Texas), and Pearland clinics (Pearland, Texas).
