The neuroradiology section has 6.6 FTE Faculty, including a dedicated neurointerventionalist.  The section is dynamic, has cutting edge technology and has 2 ACGME accredited fellows.

A wide variety of CNS, head and neck and spine pathology are encountered. Our referrals are provided by ACGME accredited residency programs in Neurosurgery, Neurology, Otolaryngology, Radiation Oncology, Ophthalmology and Orthopedic Surgery, as well as Surgery, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry and Pediatrics. Numerous weekly interdisciplinary conferences are held.

The equipment is state of the art with three 1.5 Tesla magnets, one open bore magnet, 5 helical CT scanners (two 64 detectors), a biplane angiography suite and a new PET/CT scanner. A 3 T magnet is scheduled  to be purchased within the fiscal year of 2007-8.   PhD support is available.

Over 10,000 neuroradiology MRI studies and 12,000 CT studies are interpreted annually.  Diagnostic and therapeutic neurointerventional procedures are offered including 3 D imaging. These include (but are not limited to) cerebral and spinal angiography, endovascular treatment of aneurysms and AVM’s, myelography, spine pain management and vertebroplasty.
