The neuroradiology section has
6.6 FTE Faculty, including a dedicated neurointerventionalist.
The section is dynamic, has cutting edge technology and has 2
ACGME accredited fellows.
A wide variety of CNS, head
and neck and spine pathology are encountered. Our referrals are
provided by ACGME accredited residency programs in Neurosurgery,
Neurology, Otolaryngology, Radiation Oncology, Ophthalmology and
Orthopedic Surgery, as well as Surgery, Internal Medicine,
Psychiatry and Pediatrics. Numerous weekly interdisciplinary
conferences are held.
The equipment is
state of the art with three 1.5 Tesla magnets, one open bore
magnet, 5 helical CT scanners (two 64 detectors), a biplane
angiography suite and a new PET/CT scanner. A 3 T
magnet is scheduled to be purchased within the fiscal year of
2007-8. PhD support is available.
Over
10,000 neuroradiology MRI studies and 12,000 CT studies are
interpreted annually. Diagnostic and therapeutic
neurointerventional procedures are offered including 3 D
imaging. These include (but are not limited to) cerebral and
spinal angiography, endovascular treatment of aneurysms and
AVM’s, myelography, spine pain management and vertebroplasty.
